Mutation and Gene Disruption

Mutation and Gene Disruption

Analysis of phenotypic changes resulting from mutagenesis and gene disruption

Mutation and gene disruption are powerful tools for investigating gene function and for identifying novel genes without prior knowledge of homology in other systems. Screening for phenotypes of interest leads to discovery of new genes, some of the mutations becoming models for human genetic diseases. The programme includes groups working on diverse model organisms including mouse, plants, yeast and bacteria.
